PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer ceramic electronic component that controls the remaining resin on the surface of an underlying electrode due to resin impregnation treatment and can improve the reliability of electric connection to the underlying electrode, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The multilayer ceramic electronic component is a multilayer ceramic electronic component subjected to resin impregnation treatment, and has an element assembly 2 mainly composed of ceramics and an underlying electrode 7 formed on the element assembly 2, wherein Ra of the surface of the underlying electrode is regulated to be 6μm or less.
