PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode discharge lamp improved in life characteristics in the cold cathode discharge lamp in which an emitter is coated on an electrode mount in which an electrode and an inner lead are welded. SOLUTION: The cold cathode discharge lamp includes a glass bulb 1 having a discharge space 11 formed inside and an electrode mount 3 which is provided with an inner lead 31, an electrode 33 connected to the inner lead 31, and the emitter 35 formed on the inner surface of the electrode 33, and is sealed to the glass bulb 1 so that the electrode 33 may be arranged inside the discharge space 11. The inner lead 31 is constructed of a material containing at least iron, and the inner lead 31 and the electrode 33 are connected by welding with a molten layer 36 formed between these. At least part of the molten layer 36 is exposed on the inner surface of the electrode 33, and the emitter 35 is formed on the inner surface of the electrode 33 avoiding the molten layer 36.
