PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp having a sealing structure suitable for a glass tube of a tube diameter 5-7 mm, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the fluorescent lamp of which the glass tube is sealed by using a stem, the stem is composed of a plate-shaped part 1, a convex part 2 mounted on the plate shaped part, and lead-in wire 3, and the plate-shaped part 1 and the convex part 2 are integrally composed with glass. The stem is arranged inside a glass tube 20, the glass tube 20 and the plate-shaped part 1 are heated, a glass tube wall and an edge of the plate-shaped part 1 are jointed for sealing the glass tube. Thereby, it is not necessary to heat-melting up to the convex part 2 and the sealing can be conducted while a residual stress is being suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
