PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for determining a class of a number of ink cartridges by a fewer number of sensors. SOLUTION: In an ink supply device 100, the output signal of an optical sensor 118 when an optical sensor 114 detects a trigger detecting part 85 is stored in a RAM 93, and the output signal of the optical sensor 118 when the optical sensor 114 does not detect the trigger detecting part 85 is stored in the RAM 93.
