PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus for printing on printing media such as a cut form and a continuous form, which does not generate the degradation of linefeed accuracy and interlaminar displacement caused by adjustment for a medium thickness. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus is so configured that the thicker the thickness of a medium is set when the apparatus is set for cut form printing, the more the pushing amount of a plate spring 1 to a platen 9 is increased, and the thicker the thickness of the medium is set when the apparatus is set for continuous form printing, the more the pushing amount of the plate spring 1 to the platen 9 is decreased, by changing gear engagement of a gear 4 turning with a range lever 3 for setting a thickness of a medium, a change gear 5 for turning a plate spring 1 which pushes the medium, and an idle gear 6 by turning a change lever 8 for changing for a cut form to a continuous form.
