The seat (1) has an armrest (3) with an accommodation area (6) for accommodating an airbag module (5). A firing channel area (8) is arranged in the armrest and exhibits a backrest arm (10) turned towards a seat area. The channel area is formed such that the arm is pivoted to the seat area during activation of airbag module to open and/or widen a firing channel within the channel area. A pressure-distributing unit (12) is arranged as an auxiliary layer in or at the arm. The pressure-distributing unit laminarly distributes pressure emanating from the channel in a direction of seat area.
