<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean smoke exhaust by placing large volumetric bulk wood or woody fuel in a furnace in a batch manner, and burning only a necessary amount of material using the same as the fuel for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: Firewood M and the like as the fuel are vertically disposed in a combustion furnace chamber 1, and burned downward from an upper part, and the combustion air is supplied to the combustion furnace chamber 1 having an air-tight structure, by 0-100% by a solenoid valve 11 to supply the air by amounts suitable for a maximum combustion mode, a resting mode, a reignition mode and a fire extinction mode.
