PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and immediately return a width to the set width even when a set interval between right and left massage balls becomes inaccurate by external pressure in a chair-type massage machine. SOLUTION: The chair-type massage machine includes: a pair of right and left massage balls 41, 41 arranged on a backrest 13 and connected to a massage motor 51, so as to perform a massage motion in an approaching/separating manner and respectively draw round orbits; a massage motor rotation detecting part 54 for detecting the amount of rotation of the massage motor 51; and a control part 70 for setting the interval of the right and left massage balls 41, 41 by controlling the rotation of the massage motor 51. When the motor rotation detecting part 54 detects the rotation of the massage motor 51 due to a load by the external pressure on the massage balls 41, 41 in a case where the massage motor 51 is stopped, a control part 70 controls the massage motor 51 to be rotated in a direction to return the interval of the massage balls 41, 41 to the set interval.
