PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the leakage of light rays from a residual portion of a runner and its vicinity portion. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a display member comprises a molding process, a cutting process and a light shielding layer forming process. In the molding process, a transparent layer 5 is formed by resin injection from a gate in a state where a light diffusing layer 6 enters in a metal mold having the gate and further slopes 5c, 6c, where the inside more protrudes toward a back side than the outside and tilt angles θ toward an extending direction D of the runner 10 are ≥45°, are formed at a periphery of a part where a runner 10 formed so as to extend from a rear face 5a of the transparent layer 5 to a side corresponding to the gate is joined to the rear face 5a. In the cutting process, a display member body 2 is taken out of the metal mold and the runner 10 is cut by using a cutting means having a pair of cutting blades rocking around a common axis in a state of moving and approaching along the slope 5c or the like. In the light shielding layer forming process, light shielding layers are formed at the residual portion 10d and at a transparent layer rear face 5a located inside the portion left uncut 10d by spraying a light shielding material from a front side of the display member body 2 and a side of the portion left uncut 10d of the runner 10.
