PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welt fabric feeder of a sewing machine, restraining a rise in manufacturing costs, making fabrication adjustment and maintenance easy and preventing quality of sewing from decreasing. SOLUTION: The welt fabric feeder 1 of the sewing machine includes a placing board 3 on which a welt fabric is placed, a gripping mechanism 4 for gripping the fabric, a touching/separating mechanism 5 for shifting the gripping mechanism, a drive mechanism 6 for driving the gripping mechanism, a welt fabric rule 9 integrally formed with the gripping mechanism and making itself a guide for folding the fabric and a control device 110 for drive-controlling each of the mechanisms. The drive mechanism includes a lifting up/down mechanism 7 for lifting the gripping mechanism down and a horizontal shift mechanism 8 for shifting the gripping mechanism so that one end of the welt fabric rule may come near a needle root after driving the gripping mechanism to place the fabric on a body fabric. The control device controls a drive of the shift mechanism so that the welt fabric rule may shift at the same speed as the larger presser foot by interlocking with provisional conveyance before sewing of the body fabric with a larger presser foot.
