A method of testing a UV water pitcher, the method including the steps of providing a plurality of water pitchers without a UV system, providing a plurality of UV systems; testing the UV systems; installing one of the UV systems in each of the water pitchers without the UV system to form a plurality of test water pitchers; causing each of the test water pitchers to cycle a desired number of times using test water; causing each of the test water pitchers to cycle through a first testing process; and causing each of the test water pitchers to cycle through a second testing process, wherein the water pitcher is capable of inactivating and/or removing harmful microorganisms, chemicals, and sediments from municipally treated drinking water, in addition to improving a taste thereof.
