The element has an electro-chemical measuring cell (15) e.g. gas cell, provided with an inner electrode (18) and an outer electrode (20). An intermediate solid electrolyte material (19) is electrically isolated in a ceramic carrier foil (11). The carrier foil consists of an electrically isolating substrate e.g. alumina, and the solid electrolyte material formed as a window is inserted into the carrier foil. The window is formed by a molded body form-fittingly inserted into a penetration that is produced in the carrier foil in a green condition of the carrier foil. An independent claim is also included for a method for production of a sensor element.
