[Means] A bellows type mechanical seal including a sealing ring (30) and a mating ring (40), wherein either one of the sealing ring (30) or the mating ring (40) is retained in a housing (50) and the other one is mounted on a shaft (60) and wherein the sealing ring (30) is supported by a bellows (21) and the bellows (21) has a retainer (22) welded thereto on one of the sides for retaining the sealing ring (30) and a color (23) welded on the other side to form a bellows assembly (20), is characterized in that the entire surface of the bellows assembly (20) is covered by an erosion-resistant film formed by the physical vapor deposition, such as ion-plating.</p> |
