PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assay method and a device for assays which enables uniform liquid expansion to attain measurements of high-accuracy, as well as, high-sensitive measurements. SOLUTION: In this method, the first device component 10 holds both a second insoluble carrier 12 and athird insoluble carrier 13 in positional relation overlapped with a detected area 14 of the first insoluble carrier 11, while it inlcudes the first insoluble carrier 11, second insoluble carrier 12 and third insoluble carrier 13, in a noncontact condition each other. Furthermore, it has a pressing plane 18a parallel to the detected area 14, which is pressed against the detected area 14 and the plane 18a is displaced; then the pressing plane 18, pressing against these second and third insoluble carriers 12/13 against the first insoluble carrier 11 from above the first insoluble carrier 11, is prepared inside the second device component 20 facing the detected area 14 on the first insoluble carrier 11, which joins the first device component 10 with the second device component 20.
