PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a log extraction device and method, or the like, capable of extracting log information under a condition that na operating system is installed. SOLUTION: The log extraction device includes: a means for detecting installation of an operating system to an information processing device (OS monitoring function); a means for identifying, when installation of the operating system is detected, an external connecting terminal, and extracting log information of the information processing device and log information of the operating system (authentication function and log extraction function); a means for authenticating, when a predetermined storage device is connected to the identified external connecting terminal, the storage device (authenticating function); and a means for transferring, when authentication of the storage device is completed, the extracted log information to the storage device through the external connecting terminal (USB driver).
