PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable liquid crystal display device in which short-circuiting is hard to be generated between signal lines and lower electrodes. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 10 is provided with: a first insulating film 15 which covers a first substrate AR of a pair of substrate; a plurality of signal lines 17 provided on the first insulating film 15 in the direction crossing scanning lines 12 and a common wiring 13; the lower electrodes 14 which are formed by every area divided by a plurality of scanning lines 12 and the signal lines 17 and connected to the common wiring 13; a second insulating film 18 which is formed on the surface of the lower electrodes 14; and upper electrodes 21 which are formed so as to be superposed on the lower electrodes 14 in plain view on the second insulating film 18 and have a plurality of slits 20. In the display device 10, the common wiring 13 is arranged by being brought to one side of the scanning lines 12 adjacent to an area where the common wiring 13 is arranged, and the lower electrodes 14 cover the common wiring 13 so that level difference 14a may be formed on the side of the common wiring 13.
