PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floor expansion joint for buildings, which is adaptable to the vertical and horizontal movements in an earthquake and has excellent durability. SOLUTION: This floor expansion joint for buildings includes a floor plate 2 installed between a building 3 and a building 4, a connection means for connecting one end of the floor plate 2 to the building 3, and a loading surface 41 which is provided to the building 4 and on which the other end of the floor plate 2 is placed. The connection means includes a slide mechanism allowing the movement of the floor plate 2 in the horizontal direction orthogonal to the directions of the one end and the other end of the floor plate, and a hinge mechanism allowing the other end of the floor plate 2 in the vertical direction about one end thereof.
