PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polymer by desalting polycondensation, which stably and efficiently performs a desalting polycondensation reaction, easily obtains a polymer having a desired molecular weight and simply carries out a purification step after the desalting polycondensation reaction in a shorter time. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polymer by desalting polycondensation includes a step of performing a desalting polycondensation reaction in the presence of a metal salt catalyst to give a solution containing a polymer for desalting polycondensation and a salt. The method of production includes a step of removing the salt from the solution containing the polymer by desalting polycondensation and the salt by using a pressure filter. The pressure filter has the inside divided into at least two areas by a partition having a filtration surface and at least a part of the filtration surface is arranged in a direction different from a discharge surface of filtrate.
