APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SYNCHRONIZATION OF SLEEP CYCLE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling sleep cycle synchronization of a sleep mode in a wireless communication system are provided to control state transition between a terminal and a base station through sleep control signaling, thereby keeping sleep mode synchronization even though a traffic indication message is not received. CONSTITUTION: When downlink traffic is not received during a listening window, a terminal transmits a sleep control signaling request message to a base station(1112,1116). The terminal receives a sleep control signaling response message from the base station(1118). The terminal synchronizes the sleep cycle through the length of a sleep cycle including a start point of the next sleep cycle and a next scheduled listening window.
