<p>An optical element is provided with a light waveguide (1) and a plurality of diffraction grating layers (2, 3) arranged along the light waveguide. The diffraction grating layers include diffraction gratings (2A, 3A) composed of divided first semiconductor layers (102, 104) and second semiconductor layers (103, 107), which have a refractive index different from that of the first semiconductor layers and embed the first semiconductor layers therein. One diffraction grating layer (2) included in the diffraction grating layers is continuous to the diffraction grating (2A), and includes a third semiconductor layer (120) composed of a material different from that of the first semiconductor layer (102) and that of the second semiconductor layer (103).</p> |
