A casting device (10) for producing a hollow cast article comprises: a cavity (14), a filling device (16) for introducing flowable casting material (18) into the cavity (14), and a displacement device (32) which is designed for driving a projectile (34) such that it moves in a direction of movement (B) into the casting material (18) that has been introduced into the cavity (14), wherein the cavity (14) has an article portion (20), which is assigned to the cast article (66) to be produced and in which the latter is formed, and has a projectile portion (22), which is assigned to the projectile (34) and in which the latter is formed, and wherein the article portion (20) follows the projectile portion (22) in the direction of movement (B).
