The invention relates to a device for characterising the nature of an aerodynamic flow along a wall (2), the device including a plurality of temperature-sensitive optical nodes (6) such as a distributed Bragg reflector distributed along an optical fibre (5), and a means for determining the variations in the speed of the aerodynamic flow. The nodes (6) are distributed along a fibre placed substantially in the path of an air stream (7), and a processing means (8) is provided for differentiating between the time and space characteristics of the thermal flow signals of the nodes.
