<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for detecting the amount of toner remaining in a toner storage container with high accuracy while preventing influence of environmental disturbances of temperature, humidity or the like, or fog and an image density change, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes: a driving time detecting means for accumulating and detecting the driving time of a toner supply means for supplying toner to a developing device from the toner storage container; an image density detecting means for accumulating and detecting the image densities of an image developed by the developing device; and a remaining toner amount detecting means for converting the accumulated driving time detected by the driving time detecting means and the accumulated image densities detected by the image density detecting means into a common variable, and detecting the amount of toner remaining in the toner storage container, based on a predetermined condition, using at least one of the accumulated driving time and accumulated image densities converted into the common variable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
