PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device in which a set sheet bundle does not collapse even when an upper cover is opened or closed in either cases of a shutter in a restricted state or a non-restricted state and in which the device to be used can be reduced in size. SOLUTION: When a pickup roller 17 is lowered and torque of a constant value or more is transmitted to a feed roller shaft 18a, a holder 19 is rotated through a torque restricted to be constant by a torque limiter 21, and the pickup roller 17 is pressed to a sheet. A link 14 is rotated with the projection 19a of the holder 19, a link strut 14a is detached from the strut receiving portion 13a of the shutter 13, and the shutter 13 becomes a non-restricted state capable of freely rotating. Since the location of the link 14 pressed by the projection 19a is nearer to the rotary shaft of the link 14 than the link strut 14a, even when the moving amount of the projection 19a is small, the link strut 14a is positively detached from the strut receiving portion 13a, and a separation part can be reduced in size.
