PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article produced by forming an inorganic layer on the surface of a copper material made of copper or a copper-based alloy. SOLUTION: A copper article is provided, at least the surface of which is made of copper or a copper-based alloy, and the surface essentially comprises copper (I) oxide (Cu<SB>2</SB>O) having a crystalline structure.
