PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce hammering noise while suppressing a reduction in torque. SOLUTION: This impact tool includes a rotatingly driven hammer 5, an anvil 6 engaged with a projection 51 provided to the hammer, a spring 8 pressing the hammer toward the anvil side, and a cam function which retards the hammer in the axial direction according to a loading state when the projection of the hammer is engaged with the anvil and which provides rotation to the forward motion of the hammer by the spring upon the releasing of the engagement of the hammer with the anvil. The projection on the hammer has a two-stage shape in which the top end 51b is retarded from the base end 51a in the rotating direction of the hammer, and has a step surface 51c allowed to come into contact with the end surface of the anvil between the base end and the top end. The vibration of the anvil is suppressed by the contact of the step surface on the anvil immediately after the hammering. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
