PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary cutting tool having superior binding effect on a cutting insert and superior chipping resistance. SOLUTION: A projection which is formed by a first tilted surface which rises from an upper surface 21 toward a lower surface and a projection and a second tilted surface which is arranged continuously with the first tilted surface and lowers from the upper surface toward the lower surface is formed on a side surface 23 of a cutting insert 2. The cutting insert mounting part 31 of a holder 3 includes a loading part formed in the rotating direction of the holder and a binding part formed at the rear of the holder in the rotating direction. The binding part includes a first binding surface which is tilted so that the outer peripheral side is positioned forward in the rotating direction and that the axis side is positioned backward in the rotating direction relative to the surface orthogonal to the rotating direction when viewed from the axis direction and which is brought into contact with the first tilted surface of the cutting insert.
