<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress short-circuiting between adjacent unit cells, in a fuel cell of a planer-array type. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell 10 includes a membrane electrode assembly 20. The membrane electrode assembly 20 includes an electrolyte film 22, cathode catalyst layers 24a-d, and anode catalyst layers 26a-d facing, respectively, the cathode catalyst layers 24a-d through the electrolyte film 22. Water-repellent cathode side insulating layers 40a-c are provided between adjacent cathode catalyst layers 24. A surface of the cathode side insulating layer 40, on the side opposite to the electrolyte film 22, is convex toward a surface of adjacent cathode catalyst layer 24. Meanwhile, water-repellent anode side insulating layers 42a-c are provided between adjacent anode catalyst layers 26. The surface of the anode-side insulating layer 42 on the side opposite to the electrolyte film 22 is formed convex, toward the surface of the adjacent anode catalyst layer 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
