<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging element in which, even in a low-resolution video image, a video image of a small subject is prevented from disappearing or becoming dark, and signals are read out at high speed to achieve a high frame rate. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging element includes: a first readout mode during which full pixel readout drive is executed for reading out signals from all pixels within a specific range; and a second readout mode during which first readout drive is executed for reading out a signal from a predetermined pixel among the pixels within the specific range and second readout drive is executed for reading out the signal from the predetermined pixel among the pixels within the specific range and a signal from a pixel, of which the output indicates a maximum value (peak), among pixels around the predetermined pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
