An energy monitoring device (1) processes work, and calculates the amount of room for improvement which is the amount in which the improvement can be made out of the amount of power consumption consumed by a processing machine which repeats the processing of the work. The energy monitoring device (1) comprises a power data acquisition section (20) for acquiring power data which is the time-series data of the power value measured by an electric energy meter (2), a cycle detection section (25) for detecting one-cycle power data from the power data acquired by the power data acquisition section (20), a division section (26) for dividing the one-cycle power data detected by the cycle detection section (25) into an added-value creation portion and a non-added value portion based on the processing, and an integration section (27) for calculating the power integrated value of the non-added value portion divided by the division section (26) as the amount of room for improvement.
