PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of detecting a part to be detected which is provided in an ink cartridge correctly by means of a sensor provided in a cartridge mounting portion. SOLUTION: The ink cartridge 30 includes: a first protrusion member 75 provided at an upper front side in the mounting direction 50; a second protrusion member 76 provided at a lower front side in the mounting direction 50; and a trigger detection part 85 arranged between the first protrusion member 75 and the second protrusion member 76. A cartridge case 110 includes: an optical sensor 107 which detects the first protrusion member 75; an optical sensor 118 which detects the second protrusion member 76; an optical sensor 114 which detects the trigger detection part 85; and a control unit 90 which executes first processing for identifying the ink cartridge 30 based on outputs from the optical sensors 107 and 118 when the trigger detection part 85 is detected in a step for mounting the ink cartridge 30 in the cartridge case 110.
