PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of obtaining visual effects satisfactory for a user, without taking into account a CPU load and without damaging an image display function such as slide show. SOLUTION: The image display device includes: an information processing means for performing a plurality of information processes including image display processing; an image data storage means; an effect information storage means for storing a plurality of effect information items with contents of effect processing different from each other; a load information acquiring means for acquiring load information indicating a current processing load of the information processing means; and an effect information selecting means for selecting any one effect information item from among the plurality of effect information items stored in the effect information storage means on the basis of the load information acquired by the load information acquiring means. The information processing means performs the effect processing specified by the effect information selected by the effect information processing means on an image that becomes an object of the image display processing.
