PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and imaging method, wherein failure in a driving section can be suppressed and power consumption can be reduced. SOLUTION: A double-lens camera 100 comprising a plurality of imaging units comprises: a wide-angle imaging unit 1 including a lens whose angle of view is wider than that of the other imaging unit; a zoom imaging unit 2 which includes a lens with a narrower angle of view than that of the wide-angle imaging unit 1 and a greater magnification and is turnably provided in the double-lens camera 100; a drive control section 73 for turning the zoom imaging unit 2 so as to change a zoom imaging range; and a segmentation section 74 for segmenting images within an output range from a zoom-picked up image. The zoom imaging range is wider than the output range, and the drive control section 73 turns the zoom imaging unit 2 so as to perform imaging within the output range only when the output range is outside the zoom imaging range.
