PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always arrange data including a temporary disc definition structure (TDDS 32) in one block at the head position of a temporary disc management area (TDMA 17). SOLUTION: A plurality of space bit maps (SBM 30#0 and SBM 30#1) are formed for a user data region of one recording layer. A disc management structure update unit of one block size including one of the plurality of space bit maps and the temporary disc definition structure (TDDS 32) is recorded in the temporary disc management area (TDMA 17). Thereby, the data including the temporary disc definition structure (TDDS 32) are always arranged in one block at the head position of the temporary disc management area (TDMA 17).
