PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for detecting an overvoltage in a simple configuration and an overvoltage protecting method using the same. SOLUTION: One end of a resistor R1 is connected to an output A of the constant voltage circuit 1, one end of a resistor R2 is connected to the output B of a constant voltage circuit 2, and a point C connecting the other end of the resistor R1 with the other end of the resistor R2, wherein the resistor R1 and the resistor R2 are serially connected, is connected to the input of a comparator 1. The resistance values of the resistor R1 and the resistor R2 are set to a large constant resistance value so that they may not overload the outputs of the constant voltage circuit 1, 2. The setting voltage V1 of the comparator 1 is set to a lower voltage than a voltage by which a circuit connected to the output A of the constant voltage circuit 1 and a circuit connected to the output B of the constant voltage circuit 2 are destroyed.
