The invention relates to a method of determining a descriptor of a region of interest in an image, comprising steps of: - defining (E2) a grid of points for the region of interest; associating (E3) a respective zone of influence with the points of the grid of points; determining (E4) a representative value per point of the grid of points as a function of its respective zone of influence; comparing (E5) the representative value obtained per point of the grid of points with at least one reference value, the result of the comparison making it possible to define a descriptor of the region of interest.
