<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to easily discriminate, without preliminarily registering characters that the user wants to discriminate from the other characters, the characters from the other characters. <P>SOLUTION: In a monochrome document in which underline character decoration is used for visual emphasis, the control unit of an information processing apparatus executes the processing for coping with emphasis, which is arbitrarily selected by a user and which comprises any one of: the change of a character color for the characters to which the underline character decoration is executed; the decoration of a shaded character decoration; and the processing of having characters other than the characters, to which the underline character decoration is executed, turned to the color of a reduced shade.
