PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit which can suppress the generation of higher harmonics by properly setting the timing of conduction/break of a switch element which short-circuits the output of a reactor. SOLUTION: A first means gets a first OFF period, in which an output current from a reactor is zero in the initial stage of control cycle from the conduction timing of the switch element, and also gets a second OFF period, in which an output current from the reactor is zero in the final stage of the cycle from the timing of the current output from the reactor becoming zero after having broken the switch. A second means modifies the conduction timing of the switch element so that the first OFF period may approach the target OFF period that is set based on the second OFF period, and restarts the first means to determine the conduction timing of the switch element so that the first OFF period and the target OFF period may accord with each other.
