PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for middle to high voltage aluminum electrolytic capacitor particularly having higher thermal stability for the aluminum electrolytic capacitor electrolyte and the method of manufacturing the core solute of the same electrolyte. SOLUTION: The aluminum electrolytic capacitor electrolyte includes a solvent and a solute. The solute includes dicarboxylic acid containing branching chain at theα-position or the salt thereof. The solvent is the mixed solvent formed of a kind of solvent or two or more kinds of solvents selected from the solvents of alcohol system, alcohol-ether system, amide system, sulfone system, sulfoxide system, and ester system. Moreover, the aluminum electrolytic capacitor electrolyte is characterized in that the containing amount of the dicarboxylic acid containing the branching chain at theα-position or the salt thereof among the solvents is 0.1 to 30 mass% and preferably 2.5 to 15 mass% in the case of the dicarboxylic acid containing branching chain at theα-position. In addition, methods of manufacturing the dicarboxylic acid containing branching chain at theα-position and its ammonium salt are provided. In addition, the electrolyte obtained from an acid containing the branching chain at theα-position and the salt thereof shows more improved solubility and thermal stability in ethylene glycol.
