PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mouth ring for molding a honeycomb structure that remarkably reduces molding defects near a periphery, which easily occur during the extrusion molding of a molded ceramic with a thin wall having the shape of a highly dense honeycomb, and that excels in wear resistance. SOLUTION: The mouth ring for molding the honeycomb structure includes: a mouth ring 1 having a plurality of back holes 9, which are formed in a supply end portion 22 and to which unbaked clay is supplied, and a slit 8, which is formed in an extrusion end portion 21 and communicates with the back holes 9 and through which the unbaked clay is extruded as a ceramics mold; a back press plate 12 and back spacer 13, which are arranged on the peripheral side of the supply end portion 21 of the mouth ring 1 and adjust the amount of unbaked clay being supplied; and a pressing plate 11 and a spacer 10, which are arranged on the periphery side of the extrusion end portion 21 of the mouth ring 1 and regulates the shape and size of the molded ceramic. The entire surface of the supply end 22 of the mouth ring 1 is flattened and has a surface roughness (Ra) in the range of 0.05 μm to 10 μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
