A wireless local area network (WLAN) terminal pre-authentication method and a WLAN system, wherein said method includes: after a current access point (AP) which has established a secure connection with a station (STA) receives a pre-authentication start packet sent by the STA, the current AP interacts with a target AP so the two can cross-authenticate their respective certificates; if the authentication result of the target AP certificate is valid, the current AP transmits to the target AP the key information of the secure connection established between the current AP and the STA, and the target AP stores the key information; the key information includes a base key generated by negotiation between the STA and the current AP. The pre-authentication method of the present invention reduces the interaction processing among network elements, and enables quick pre-authentication for WLAN terminals without reducing the security of the system.
