When an object detection device shares a bus (3) with an external memory (2) and other devices, the decrease of processing ability caused by bus occupation for resolution conversion can be suppressed. The object detection device is provided with an original image data acquisition means for acquiring original image data through the external memory (2) and the bus (3); a reduction processing means for generating a plurality of types of reduced image data reduced at mutually different reduction ratios from the acquired original image data, upon the acquisition of the original image data by the original image data acquisition means; and an object detection means (7) for detecting a position of an object shown in each of the plurality of types of reduced images, by performing a matching process using a template of the object with respect to the plurality of types of reduced image data.
