<p>An electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering system for a motor vehicle comprises a hydraulic pump (14) driven by an electric motor (16) and supplying at least one actuator (9). The speed of rotation of the motor is regulated by an electronic control unit (18) as a function of the power consumed by the motor. The electronic control unit is configured to carry out the following actions: when the vehicle is at rest, the electronic control unit starts the electric motor (16) of the electric pump unit and controls it at a first or idle speed of rotation, when the vehicle is at rest or no longer at rest, it then compares the power consumed by the motor (16) with a first or high threshold value, if the power consumed by the motor becomes greater than the first or high threshold value, it increases the setpoint speed of rotation of the electric motor (16) to a second or power-assistance speed of rotation.</p> |
