PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair conditioning composition improved in conditioning effect, particularly improving good slipperiness improved when applied to wet hair. SOLUTION: The hair conditioning composition includes: (a) 0.1-10 wt.% of a cationic surfactant; (b) 2.5-15 wt.% of a high-melting fat compound; and (c) an aqueous carrier; wherein the cationic surfactant is a specific alkyl diquaternarized ammonium salt; the three ingredients form a lamellar gel matrix, which is prepared by each specific mixing and cooling step, and the d-voids of the lamellar layer lie within a range of 33 nm or less.
