The invention provides a golf ball having a core, a cover of at least one layer encasing the core, and a layer of paint applied to a surface of an outermost layer of the cover. At least one layer from among the outermost cover layer and the paint layer is a colored layer containing a base polymer, a pigment and a lubricant. The ball has a color tone, at a measurement area diameter of 5 mm in a method of measuring the color of a reflecting object according to JIS Z-8722, which, expressed in the Lab color system, satisfies the conditions 30≦̸L, −40≦̸a≦̸60, and −20≦̸b≦̸60. The colored golf ball of the invention has an excellent spin performance and durability, an appearance characterized by outstanding visibility, stylishness and luxury, and an excellent weather resistance and paint film adhesion.
