PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet handling device using a simply configured and easily handleable paper money storage effective in the improvement of removal work from a body device, with which the number of sheets of stored paper sheet can be immediately determined when taken out from the body device. SOLUTION: Paper money delivered from a stacker A18 when paid to a customer is carried through conveyance paths shown by arrows u, k, m, v and c to one discrimination part 9 installed in a main conveyance path 10, and validity/invalidity of payment is determined. When "payment is valid", the paper money is delivered through the conveyance path shown by the arrows d and w to a paper money input/output unit 3, and when "payment is invalid", the paper money is returned through the conveyance path shown by the arrows d, i, and x to a reject part 19 exclusive for a (built-in) stacker A18 which has delivered inappropriate paper money whose payment is invalid. In the case of the other stackers B18 to F18, the paper money is processed in the same way.
