PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin-ceramic composite material exhibiting low expanding property at around room temperature and having a coefficient of linear expansion easily controllable during production, and to provide a production method of the material. SOLUTION: The resin-ceramic composite material is prepared by compounding a resin and ceramic to form a composite and includes a reinforcing material comprising particles of interstitial manganese nitride ceramics and particles of non-oxide ceramics and formed into a porous body, and a matrix comprising a resin impregnating the reinforcing material. The composite material has a coefficient of linear expansion of not more than 2×10<SP>-6</SP>/°C as an absolute value in a temperature range from 0°C to 40°C. The particles of interstitial manganese ceramics exhibit negative expanding property, which compensates a positive expanding property of the resin. As the particles of non-oxide ceramics have positive expanding property, the thermal expansion of the resin-ceramic composite material can be easily maintained low during the production process.
