PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device for recording a speech signal suitable for speech recognition, and adjusting a recording level according to change of acoustic condition etc. SOLUTION: The recording device includes: a gain setting means for setting a gain of a variable gain amplifier; an input means for inputting a recording start instruction; and a recording control means for performing recording operation for a predetermined fixed period of time, each time the recording start instruction is input. The gain setting means sets a gain of the variable gain amplifier at present recording time, based on a speech signal recorded in a recording means at past recording time, and maintains the set gain until the present recording is finished.
