PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film that is excellent in moldability so that the stress induced in the film is maintained low during the molding process and the film has high elongation and is excellent in heat resistance and dimensional stability as well. SOLUTION: The polyester film has a peak intensity ratio obtained by measurement of X ray diffraction peak intensity (a transmission method) which satisfies formula (1), 0.4<Ib/Ia≤1.2, and formula (2), 0.4<Ic/Ib≤1.2, in which Ia is a peak intensity near 2θ=26°; Ib is a peak intensity near 2θ=23.5°; and Ic is a peak intensity near 2θ=22.5°, provided that the peak intensity is obtained by 2θ/θscan measurement (measurement of change in intensity relative to an angle ofθby allowing X rays to be incident at an angle ofθto the direction of a film surface (to the horizontal direction of a sample) and detecting X rays of an angle of 2θto the incident X ray from among X-rays reflected from the sample).
