Provided is a vibration damping structure capable of obtaining a sufficient vibration damping effect even for vibrations with small amplitude by promoting the movement of powder/grain materials in a hollow body. The vibration damping structure, wherein a vibration damping member (2) is provided to a structure (1) serving as an object to be vibration-damped. The vibration damping member (2) is configured by a hollow body (5) in which powder/grain materials (3) are filled with a space (4) partially left. A vibration wall surface section (7) which vibrates larger than the structure (1) when receiving vibrations is formed in at least part of a wall surface section (6) of the hollow body (5). The vibration wall surface section (7) is preferably formed of materials with lower modulus of elasticity and/or lower density than other sites.
